Brutal is a concept inspired by the Bar Brutal in Barcelona: any natural winemaker can make a cuvée, part of which is intended for the bar. The principle is to obtain a fruity and easily drinkable wine. Jean-Louis Pinto's is a 100% Carignan from vines grown on crumbly schist soils. The harvest macerates for nine months in whole bunches. The wine is mineral and full of character, with bright and energetic fruit, and a good balance between acidity and freshness.

Ideally served at 15°C, this is a cuvée that is not cold to the eyes or elsewhere, with a light color and a great freshness on the palate that gives the sensation of biting into a juicy and slightly peppery grape. Big favorite.

The plot is planted with forty-six-year-old vines on limestone. Jean-Yves uses the finest bunches to make this vintage. The harvest macerates for two to six months, and this vintage is generally aged for twenty-four months. On the nose, citrus fruits are clearly perceived. On the palate, it is more the acidity of the red fruits that is felt. The wine is persistent, with some herbaceous notes in the mid-palate.

On the palate, a lot of distinction: a straight acidity and morello cherry, ripe plum, black pepper, a little saline touch on the finish. Serve very chilled.

Bianchetto is the result of a blend of Procanico, Malvasia, and Moscato from the Le Coste estate, a volcanic winegrowing Eden located on the borders of Tuscany and Umbria. This intense white seduces the eye with a slightly amber color, and the nose slides towards lovely citrus notes. On the palate, it feels like an orchard, between peach, quince, and apricot. Very light, it can be drunk alone or with a good accompaniment. With a venerable Sunday white meat, for example.

Domaine Le Temps retrouvé
The Grenache Noir and Carignan grapes that make up this cuvée are forty and one hundred and thirty years old, respectively. They grow in a complex mixture of clay, silica, mica-rich schist, quartz, and gneiss. Michaël Georget pollinates the vineyard by introducing bees. The grapes are pressed directly, and aged for ten months in old 400-liter barrels.

Bushido Blanc 2011, Domaine La Sorga
To vinify this blend of Petit Manseng (65%), Gros Manseng, Chardonnay, Vermentino and Viognier from the Terrasses du Larzac, the grapes macerate in whole bunches for twenty-eight days with punching down, then are de-racked. The wine is aged under a veil for eighteen months in old barrels. Its notes of white pepper, citrus and bergamot will accompany aged cheeses or foie gras. Aging potential: ten years.

Azienda Frank Cornelissen's entry-level red is made from Nerello Mascalese and a few other varieties grown on the estate: Malvasia, Moscadella, Catarratto. The grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed, and undergo approximately sixty days of skin maceration. It is the aromatic expression of Etna, a vintage produced and blended in the traditional way, mixing plots and grape varieties. The result is a wine with a rich and voluptuous nose, elegant and fluid, with structure and a strong personality. Aging potential: ten years. Serving temperature: 14-15°C. SM Sumoll Red 2014, Partida Creus
This red sumoll, a very old Catalan red grape variety that has long been neglected, is one of Partida Creus' favorites. Low-yielding, sumoll gives its best on poor soils, which gives it great concentration, beautiful balance, juicy black fruit, dense and generous, notes of spices and Mediterranean plants, and finally an earthy, animal and smoky character. The short maceration allows it to retain freshness and acidity. It will be excellent with red meats, roasts, duck, but the range of its pairings is actually very wide.
