Hidden in the hills of Piera, in the heart of Catalan Anoia, Clot de les Soleres embodies the patient rebirth of a family estate with a rich and troubled past. On these lands once ravaged by phylloxera, a family chose to return to viticulture, not to follow a trend, but to give voice to a sleeping tradition. Since the 2000s, with passion and rigor, the estate has reconnected with the artisanal and living spirit of wine, one that respects the land, the fruit, and time.

Clot de les Soleres, the estate's historic cellar, bears witness to this resilience: ancient walls, ancestral vats, and a history rehabilitated by demanding and sincere viticulture. Here, every decision is dictated by the love of the terroir and the desire to let the grapes express themselves without artifice.

Terroir, parcel, and grape varieties

The Clot de les Soleres vines thrive between 290 and 325 meters above sea level, on the arid and calcareous lands of the DO Penedès, with recognition from the DO Cava and DO Catalunya appellations. The soils, a blend of gravel, silt, and clay pockets, offer a mineral complexity conducive to the expression of the fruit.

The Mediterranean climate, softened by summer sea breezes, allows for progressive and harmonious grape ripening. The estate has judiciously distributed its grape varieties: white grapes (Macabeo, Chardonnay, Malvasia) are planted at higher altitudes to benefit from better aeration, while the more robust red grapes are cultivated lower down to slow their ripening.

Cultivation methods

Certified organic, the estate practices respectful and thoughtful viticulture. No plowing, but a controlled vegetative cover that preserves moisture and biodiversity. Copper and sulfur treatments are kept to a minimum. Grass is mowed by hand, and pruning is short and balanced, prioritizing quality over yield.

Sexual confusion, manual harvesting, and selective destemming demonstrate constant attention to the health of the vines and the natural balance of the vineyard. This patient care is reflected in every berry harvested.

Winemaking

In the cellar carefully restored in 2006, everything is designed to let the grapes speak. No additives, no sulfites, no exogenous yeasts or enzymes: the wine is born alone, following the lunar rhythms of biodynamics. Modern stainless steel tanks stand alongside old stone walls, in a dialogue between tradition and contemporary demands.

Every detail counts: fruit days for vinifying reds, flower days for enhancing aromatic whites. The estate chooses the natural path in the most integral sense of the term: living, free, and completely transparent wines.

Tasting & pairings

Clot de les Soleres wines are not described, they are experienced. Vibrant, sincere, they carry the freshness of the place and the depth of the winemaker's work. In whites, saline tension blends with floral or ripe notes depending on the vintage; in reds, the brightness of the fruit harmonizes with a fine, almost chiseled structure.

Perfect companions for seasonal cuisine, these natural wines shine alongside grilled fish, roasted vegetables, or tender meats. But even more so, they are appreciated for what they are: authentic and moving wines from a winemaker, which resonate with those who drink them as much as with those who make them.
