Where ?
Belly Wine Experiment is a natural wine trading house created in June 2020 by Claire Sage, Aimé Duveau, and Guy Enoch. As its name suggests, it's not a winery, it's an experiment. This passion for experimentation explains the presence of a wide variety of grape varieties in the vintages. There's even grape wine in perry.
Claire, Aimé, and Guy share unusual ideas. So here they are in Auvergne, producing very drinkable experimental wines and excellently renowned perries.
Terroir and Cultivation Methods
Belly Wine Experiment bases its production on two types of sources. On the one hand, the raw material of the Domaine de l'Égrappille, that is to say its Auvergne Gamays and the pears used to make the perries, and on the other hand grapes purchased from all over, notably in Catalonia, a region that Claire knows well through her father. The Domaine de l'Égrappille is made up of several small plots located in Blanzat, north of Clermont-Ferrand, between 300 and 400 meters above sea level, planted with old Auvergne Gamays and a few white grape varieties. The vines are worked naturally and cared for with biodynamic plant-based preparations. The fruits are obtained under the same natural conditions. When it comes to grapes purchased from other estates, imagination reigns supreme: Belly Wine Experiment cultivates atypical blends.
Winemaking
In the cellar, the trio gives free rein to his love of rock winemaking ‘n’roll and mixtures that some might call bizarre, but which are not explosive. The techniques are ultra-natural: semi-carbonic macerations without the addition of additives or excessive manipulation in the cellar, minimal interventionism, and no limits to the inspiration that governs the grape variety combinations. The house is also known for its very high-quality, vinous perries.
The wines
Bold, innovative, gifted with effervescent wines, these winemakersare ready to travel vast territories to explore multidirectional winemaking.
