Rooted in Monferrato, Italy for centuries, the Morando family now cultivates 15 hectares of organic vineyards with passion and harmony. Blending Piedmontese tradition with a forward-looking approach, Silvio, Tiziana, and their children craft sincere and vibrant wines from Grignolino, Barbera, and Bonarda grapes. These are honest and welcoming family wines, made for the table, sharing, and good times.
The history of the Morando family is a living fresco spanning centuries, rooted in the rolling hills of Monferrato. Originally from Sardinia, having passed through Corsica before settling in Piedmont, the Morandos appear in local archives as early as 1630. That year, the ancestor Morando attempted to defend the Vignale castle against Spanish troops. Five generations later, Gaspare Morando transformed this presence into a deep-rooted connection by dedicating himself to viticulture at the end of the 19th century.
But it was at the turn of the 21st century, with Silvio and Tiziana, both trained at the Alba oenology school, that the estate gained new momentum. Their shared passion for wine and their love for the terroir gave birth to a modern family adventure, where their children Nicolò, Camilla, and Rebecca, in turn, became the heirs of a sensitive and committed tradition.
Today, the Morando estate spans 15 hectares of certified organic vineyards, planted in the heart of Monferrato, in Italian Piedmont. These sun-drenched hills, with soils rich in clay and marl, offer an ideal setting for emblematic grape varieties. Grignolino, Barbera, and Bonarda form the identity base of the estate, telling the story of the land in every glass. Pinot Noir and other international varieties, cultivated in smaller quantities, demonstrate creative curiosity and a forward-looking perspective.
At the Morandos, vineyard work is carried out with respect for living things. Certified organic, the estate strives to preserve the natural balance of the soil and plants. Treatments are limited to what is strictly necessary, and harvesting and pruning are done by hand, with almost artisanal care. The cultivation is part of a family and seasonal rhythm, where every action, from the vine to the bottle, is the result of a collective and sincere commitment.
Silvio, as the true guardian of the cellar, ensures that each cuvée expresses the identity of the terroir as accurately as possible. Winemaking, without dogma but with great care, is done with respect for the grape: natural fermentation, macerations adapted to each cuvée, thoughtful use of containers, whether stainless steel or wood. Few inputs, much listening. The wine almost makes itself, accompanied with patience and intuition.
Morando wines have the discreet charm of sincere things. They tell of the freshness of Grignolino, the vibrant generosity of Barbera, the delicious roundness of Bonarda. They are distinguished by their energy, their frankness, their ability to accompany the table rather than dominate it. Perfect companions for fine charcuterie, stews, or hard cheeses, they are also appreciated for what they embody of the human: a simple, warm way of life, and an invitation to share.
