Argilla Ramato 2021 from Terre Pianca is a captivating wine that showcases Pinot Gris in an unusual expression, with a ramato (coppery) hue achieved through skin maceration. On the border between Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, but located in the latter province, dependent on the town of Pordenone, Sacile is a small town crossed by the Livenza River, which continues its path towards the Adriatic. This is where the owners of the Terrepianca estate cultivate several indigenous Friuli grape varieties on twelve hectares of clayey soil: refosco (the transalpine equivalent of mondeuse), refosco dal peduncolo rosso (refosco with a red stalk), pinot grigio (pinot gris) and friulano (large-grained sauvignon in France). They produce light and fragrant natural wines, often sparkling (frizzante), using organic and biodynamic farming methods without adding any inputs to the vineyard or cellar. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts; no filtration is carried out. So far, Terrepianca produces two still wines, red and white (Argilla) and two sparkling wines, rosé and white (Argine).

Paoudou Red 2022,

Danis dans la vigne

Paoudou is a 100% Cahors Malbec red wine, organic and natural, produced in Vin de France by Danis Bessières of Danis dans la vigne. It is part of the winemaker's "Esprit du lieu" series of single-plot cuvées.

Vinification

Danis dans la vigne's single-plot cuvées are vinified with a certain neutrality to respect the grape variety (in this case, Malbec), the soil, and the vintage. In this case, the 2022 vintage was hot and the wine comes from the finest plot, a place called Paoudou.

Tasting

Paoudou is a sunny, dense and fruity wine, with substance. It requires decanting to fully express its character. Typically Cahors Malbec: Paoudou is full of presence, energy, with a little austerity. It is a wine for red meats, roasts and stews.

Under the name Danis dans la vigne, Danis Bessières vinifies organic grapes from the family estate, the Domaine de l'Antenet, which was the first organic vineyard in Cahors in the early 1980s.

Organic and natural since 1983

Danis respects the principles established in the vineyard and cellar by his grandfather and then his father: making wines without additives, organic and natural, from the grape varieties of the terroir while respecting the environment. It was in 1983 that his grandfather obtained the organic label Lemaire-Boucher, followed by Nature & Progrès and then the organic labels AB and Eurofeuille. Danis Bessières continues in this vein.

Malbec, but not only

Malbec reigns supreme in the Cadurcian region, but Danis also uses Cabernets, Jurançon Noir, Merlot, and recently created grape varieties, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Colombard as single-varietals. These experiments allow him to moderate the density and opacity of the main grape variety.

Sumptuous, disconcerting, addictive, Gewurztraminer as you wouldn't expect, with a super-powerful aroma, without the sugar. Jean-Marc Dreyer's Origin range is dedicated to single-varietal cuvées based on Alsatian varieties. Decidedly orange, this macerated Gewurztraminer is the answer to those who find this grape variety heady and syrupy: all the sugars have been consumed, leaving an extraordinary richness of aromas, bare and unvarnished. The mango, ylang-ylang, and bouquet of flowers and exotic fruits are all there, enhanced by a dry, unsweetened structure. This wine calls for foie gras, but it can be drunk with anything. Biodynamic method, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, unfiltered, unclarified, with no sulfites added in the vineyard or cellar.

"Maceration in Alsace is a tradition!" says Jean-Marc Dreyer, adding that direct pressing in this region is a modern invention, linked to the advent of electricity. In the past, we worked by hand and let the grapes macerate before sending the marc to the press. " Whole-bunch maceration is Jean-Marc Dreyer's signature and represents 85% of the estate's production, the rest consisting of direct-pressed whites, often aged using gentle oxidation. Jean-Marc succeeds several generations of his family at the Dreyer & Fils estate, established in 1830 between Obernai and Molsheim. Upon taking over the estate, he immediately opted for biodynamics, but he hesitated for a while between several methods: at first, his wines were more oaky, aged in new barrels with stirring. Then, a sweet period: all his wines contained residual sugar. In 2008, he tried vinifying without any sulfur and found his direction: the following winter, upon returning from the pilgrimage to Compostela, he swore never to add sulfur to any wine again. Having made this decision, he affirmed his style around skin maceration, quite extensive, chiseled, always surprising on Alsatian grape varieties, whose structure it brings out without sacrificing delicacy. Jean-Marc works in single-varietal or blended vintages and also produces Pinot Noir reds of surprising depth.

With Tomoe Gozen Blanc 2023, La Tribu Alonso creates an inspired and profoundly original vintage, conceived as an homage to the first female samurai. Like this historical figure, the wine embodies finesse, power, and singularity. Made from a collection of 28 Chardonnays, this white wine reveals a rare complexity, shaped by a bold vision and an artisanal approach to natural wine.

The grapes are grown without any synthetic products, respecting the living balance of the vineyard. It is in the heart of the limestone soils of Cognac, in this region where the sky and the vines have harmonized for centuries, that Alain Chadutaud passionately cultivates his Ugni Blanc. On typical clay-limestone soil, the roots draw the freshness and minerality necessary for the expression of a perfectly balanced white Pineau. The 2015 vintage, bathed in sunshine and tempered by Atlantic breezes, allowed for perfect grape maturation, giving birth to a generous and precise cuvée.

Cultivation methods

True to a philosophy that respects living things, Alain Chadutaud works biodynamically, with constant attention to soil vitality and vine balance. No synthetic inputs, but gentle practices, meticulous soil work, and natural preparations to support the plant throughout its cycle. The harvest, carried out at full maturity, precedes the subtle blending of grape juice and homemade Cognac eau-de-vie, according to the traditional savoir-faire of Pineau des Charentes. Aging takes place slowly in barrels, in order to develop this characteristic aromatic complexity.

Tasting & pairings

From the very first nose, the Organic Pineau 2015 opens with a charming bouquet of candied fruits, dried apricot, and acacia honey, underscored by a hint of sweet almond. On the palate, the magic happens: the attack is lively, almost lemony, followed by a honeyed roundness that caresses the palate, supported by a tangy framework that prevents any heaviness. The balance is perfect, the persistence remarkable, leaving a sensation of freshness and deliciousness on the finish.

This is a Pineau of character, both sunny and invigorating, ideal as an aperitif, served chilled with iodine-flavored appetizers or cheese puff pastries. It also nobly accompanies pan-seared foie gras, highlighting its richness without overpowering it. Côtes du Rhône Red 2022

Les Grandes Serres

This Côtes-du-Rhône from Domaine des Grandes Serres is what its name implies: an organic and natural red wine from the lower Rhône Valley, in the AOC-AOP Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages. It is part of the estate's "Comics" natural series (see label).

Vinification

The Côtes-du-Rhône from Domaine des Grandes Serres is made from 80% Syrah, with 5% of each of the following grape varieties: Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, all grown on limestone and sandstone soils. The harvest is manual, the grapes are destemmed and macerated on the skins for three weeks. After pressing, the wine rests for eight months in stainless steel vats.

Domaine des Grandes Serres, created in 1977 with respect for the environment and the terroir, represents the excellence and vitality, in organic and natural mode, of the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, where it covers 12 hectares. To make his estate and merchant wines, he harvests, buys grapes, vinifies, and ages them over a wide area, centered around Châteauneuf and the southern Côtes-du-Rhône, extending to areas such as Lirac and the Costières de Nîmes.

An organic commitment without ostentation

A large portion of the Domaine des Grandes Serres vintages are organic and without added sulfites, although the estate does not publicly boast about it. Modestly, Samuel Montgermont, the estate's general manager, explains that the geological and climatic conditions, particularly the mistral wind, promote the health of the vineyard and allow for the elimination of inputs. While the labels don't take themselves seriously, the wines are solid, fresh, and flavorful.

Yeti Rouge 2024

La Tribu Alonso

The 2024 Yeti cuvée is a wine as atypical as its name, born in Beaujolais under the passionate impetus of the collective La Tribu Alonso. This 100% Gamay, or rather, should we say "100% Gamay diversity," brings together no fewer than 31 different varieties of this grape: Gamay teinturier, white, rosé, old clones, forgotten plants... A mosaic of grapes that reflects the richness of life and the free spirit of its winemakers.

The grapes are grown on granitic soils, without synthetic products, following a completely natural approach, even without certification. After a 5-day semi-carbonic maceration in fiber tanks, fermentation occurs thanks to indigenous yeasts, without oenological input. The wine is then aged for 12 months in concrete eggs, which brings roundness, energy, and balance, without woody masking.

The result? A vibrant and juicy red wine, with a light and brilliant color. The nose reveals crisp red fruits, a herbaceous touch, some sweet spices, and a peppery hint. On the palate, it is fluid, digestible, with a beautiful texture that remains fresh and elegant. A smooth Gamay, but never simplistic.

Yeti can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with artisanal charcuterie, lightly spiced dishes, or even grilled white meats. It's a wine of immediate pleasure, which appeals to both the curious and enlightened lovers of lively natural wines, to be drunk young or within 5 years.

Riesling Blanc 2022

Domaine Einhart
Riesling from Domaine Einhart is, as its name suggests, a dry white wine made from 100% Riesling from the Alsace region, organic (Ecocert) and natural, classified as a Vin de France. Riesling, the lord of Eastern European grape varieties, finds here an expression worthy of its nobility.

Vinification
The twenty-five-year-old Riesling vines from Domaine Einhart grow on the muschelkalk (oolitic limestone) soils of the Kreutzweg area. The grapes are harvested by hand and then pressed directly. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts. Aging on fine lees is ten months in century-old beer barrels (an Alsatian specialty) and precedes bottling without filtration. From the vine to the cellar, Riesling was produced without any additives or sulfites.

Tasting
A beautiful orange-yellow color. The first nose is very delicate, slightly musky, with notes of grapefruit and dandelion flower. The second nose is fresher and mineral with aromas of thyme, aromatic herbs, and flint. The palate begins with vivacity and a beautiful verticality, a minerality typical of limestone. The finish is persistent and saline. Decanting is recommended so that Riesling can spread its wings and express its mineral notes. You can serve this gem from the Einhart estate with any kind of dish; it is easy-going, but it also pairs well with cheese, roast poultry, sauerkraut, or smoked fish.

Since 1990, Nicolas Einhart has been at the helm, now assisted by his son Théo. True to his commitments to the TIFLO association, of which he is co-founder, Nicolas devotes his winemaking work to protecting the land and biodiversity, making wine without inputs, refusing harmful phytosanitary products, and maintaining ecological refuge areas. His estate has been certified organic (Ecocert and AB) since 2011. The estate produces white wines from maceration or direct pressing and a Pinot Noir red.

The best of Alsatian terroirs
Entirely manual harvests, destemming of the bunches, light punching down, and delicate pressing are characteristic of the estate, as well as the separate vinification of each terroir, aging on lees, and the absence of filtration before bottling. The wines are pure grapes, lively, powerful, invigorating, and transcribe the minerality of these very beautiful terroirs in the Vosges foothills.

Cuvée YARD Champs Elysées Rouge 2022

Les Souriants

Les Souriants present a single-plot interpretation of Pinot Noir with their Cuvée YARD Champs Élysées 2022, sourced from a unique granite terroir in Beaujolais. This natural wine, certified organic, explores the finesse and depth of this grape variety, often underestimated in the region, yet finding superb resonance in these poor, mineral soils.

The Champs Élysées plot benefits from an ideal exposure and a light granite soil that forces the vines to root deeply, concentrating the aromas in small berries brimming with energy. The winemaking process remains true to the estate's philosophy: one month of maceration, gentle extraction, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and one year of aging in old barrels to respect the identity of the place.

In the glass, the wine offers a pure and charming nose: black cherry, candied red fruits, faded rose, with a subtle vegetal touch reminiscent of ripe stems. On the palate, the texture is fine, linear, fresh, almost crystalline. The Pinot Noir expresses itself in an elegant, slender version, with a light tannic structure and a floral and mineral finish.

Born from the dialogue between the ancestral terroir of Gaillac and a contemporary vision of winemaking, the YARD x Bois Moisset Sparkling Wine 2024 embodies a luminous encounter between tradition and freshness. The Bois Moisset estate, located in the heart of the Tarn vineyards, passionately cultivates the indigenous grape varieties Braucol and Duras. These varieties, typical of Southwest France, lend their unique character to this rosé: Braucol for its vivacity and aromas of red fruit, and Duras for its finesse and floral notes. The clay-limestone soil, bathed in sunshine and caressed by the breezes of the Tarn River, imparts a beautiful tension and a pure expression of fruit to the grapes.

Cahors Red 2018

Danis dans la vigne

A Cahors, quite simply: this 100% Malbec red wine, organic and natural, is produced by Danis Bessières and Domaine de l’Antenet in the Cahors AOC. It is, strictly speaking, Danis’s father’s Cahors, from a vintage that has already matured.

Vinification

The Malbec vines grow at Domaine de l’Antenet, in the Cahors region. The harvest is cultivated and vinified without additives or sulfites. "If I have the joy today of letting you taste these vintages from the past, it is thanks to the perseverance, talent and flair of my father. He knew very well how to give time the care to preserve the beautiful years, confident that he was in the capacity of well-made wine to travel the ages."

Tasting

Despite its six years of age, this Cahors from the Domaine de l'Antenet/Danis dans la vigne remains very marked by cherry, with body and noble aromas of an evolved wine that are beginning to manifest themselves: leather, undergrowth, hay, truffle, tobacco... Everything we love in Cahors. Powerful, full-bodied, but drinkable and very supple for the appellation.

Les Gallongs est un Chardonnay issu de marnes calcaires qui rappelle les grands blancs du Mâconnais par son équilibre entre richesse et tension. Le nez s'ouvre sur les fruits blancs, les fruits secs, le tilleul et de délicates notes d'autolyse. La bouche est ample, saline et particulièrement minérale, avec une longue finale fraîche.

Vinification

Pressurage direct puis fermentation en barriques avec levures indigènes. Élevage de 18 mois sur lies en vieux fûts, sans bois neuf. Vin non collé, non filtré et élaboré avec très peu de sulfites.

Robert est un Gamay issu de vieilles vignes qui séduit par son équilibre entre concentration et finesse. Les arômes de mûre, de cerise noire et de violette sont relevés par une subtile touche épicée. La bouche est profonde mais toujours fraîche, avec des tanins soyeux et une finale longue et minérale.
