👨‍🌾 WINEMAKER OF THE MONTH 👨‍🌾 Théo Einhart, the Alsatian next generation

Ready to discover the rising star of natural wine?

Domaine Einhart has been our favorite Alsatian wine of recent years. In just a few years, the young winemaker has surprised us again with his exceptional 2023 vintages. No more maceration, make way for a purer and more direct expression of the terroir! We're telling you all about it.

Our favorite from Alsace (we didn't say anything)

You know our passion for young talent and our desire to introduce you to authentic wines. Since his beginnings, Théo Einhart has captivated us with his story, his talent, and his (ultra) complex and captivating macerated whites, at ONLY 20 years old... And today, we're not afraid to say it: Théo joins the clique of great names from Alsace, such as Jean-Marc Dreyer and Lindenlaub, to name but a few. Imagine hills where vines are rooted in mineral-rich soils. It is in this bucolic landscape, a few kilometers from Rosheim, that the few hectares of the Einhart estate are located. An exceptional terroir that conveys all its complexity to the wines. Typical Alsace grape varieties, such as Riesling and Pinot Gris, find their most authentic expression here. In 2023, Théo took a radical turn: goodbye to maceration and hello to direct pressing! A bold choice that allows him to capture the very essence of the fruit and reveal the purity of the terroir. The result is surprising: wines of remarkable finesse and precision.

Direct press and maceration, what's that?

🧃 Direct press: After harvesting his bunches of white grapes, the winemaker places them directly into a press to separate the juice from the skins. This is called (direct) pressing.

🍵 Maceration: Conversely, if he decides to let the skins macerate with the juices, this is called maceration, used to make orange wines, the same method as for making red wines!

A successful preview

It was during our event of the year, at the YARD Festival, that Théo presented his 2023s to the general public for the first time. The stand was packed and let's face it, everyone loved it! As a result, the wines were snapped up in the shop, what a SUCCESS! All that's left for us to do is wish you lots of fun discovering these wines of the future!!
