Thierry Allemand

Reynard represents the deepest and most sought-after expression of Thierry Allemand's work. This cuvée comes from his old Syrah vines and is generally darker, more concentrated, and more structured than Chaillot, while retaining the remarkable finesse that characterizes the estate's wines. The 2017 develops a complex register of blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, black olive, pepper, smoke, and spices, accompanied by a deep minerality. The palate is ample and intense, but the energy and finesse of the tannins prevent any sensation of heaviness.

The wine is made from 100% Syrah, vinified in whole clusters with the yeasts naturally present on the grapes. Reynard is aged for approximately 24 months in old barrels, before being bottled without fining or filtration. It is a great cellaring wine, but the 2017 is now beginning to reveal magnificent complexity. Serve with hare, rib of beef, roast lamb, pigeon, or wild mushroom dishes.

The Cornas Chaillot 2017 is one of Thierry Allemand's great expressions of Syrah. Made from several lieux-dits with granitic soils in Cornas, this cuvée typically comes from the estate's younger vines and is distinguished by a particularly refined and ethereal expression. The 2017 vintage brings beautiful ripeness, with a deep nose of black and red fruits, violet, pepper, smoke, and black tea. The palate is dense without ever becoming massive, supported by very fine tannins, beautiful freshness, and a long, spicy finish.

100% Syrah, the grapes are vinified in whole bunches, without sulfur during fermentation, with gentle punch-downs. The wine is then aged for 18 to 24 months in old wood, with no new wood, before bottling without filtration and with only a light sulfiting if necessary. A great Cornas that is currently evolving beautifully, ideal with roast leg of lamb, roasted pigeon, game, or a fine cut of beef.
