A 100% Sangiovese Italian red from the Azienda Le Coste estate, produced from vines grown on the superb volcanic soils of Lazio, Rosso di Gaetano could almost be mistaken for a Gamay if true aficionados didn't notice an extra soul, depth, and spicy notes that tickle the nostrils and are confirmed on the palate, blended with notes of red fruits and a slightly smoky finish.

Munjebel Bianco Blanc 2017, Frank Cornelissen
Produced on mid-altitude plots from equal parts Grecanico Dorato and Carricante, on the Calderara, Borriglione, Crasà and Picciolo plots, this white is very mature. It combines beautiful concentration, freshness and oriental aromas: orange blossom, jasmine, dried apricot. The vines are over forty years old; the grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed and macerated for about four days. No fining, no sulfiting, light filtration before bottling. This wine will pair with an almost infinite variety of dishes, meat and fish, oysters and shellfish, and all Asian cuisines.

Frank Cornelissen's grand cru is, as expected, a wine for aging. It reveals the remarkable depth of the Nerello Mascalese grape variety, from the Barbabecchi plot, planted with ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines, more than a hundred years old, at an altitude of 910 meters on the slopes of Etna. Skin maceration takes place for sixty days on destemmed and lightly crushed grapes. No fining, no sulfites, light filtration before bottling. With a very dense texture, this red is more mineral than fruity (the fruit notes are candied: blackberry, prune, all roundness and melted tannins). Its depth and power are balanced by great freshness. Possibility of traces of volatile acidity, quickly disappearing with decanting.

SM Sumoll Red 2017, Partida Creus
This red sumoll, a very old Catalan red grape variety that has long been neglected, is one of Partida Creus' favorites. Low-yielding, sumoll gives its best on poor soils, which gives it great concentration, beautiful balance, juicy black fruit, dense and generous, notes of spices and Mediterranean plants, and finally an earthy, animal and smoky character. The short maceration allows it to retain freshness and acidity. It will be excellent with red meats, roasts, duck, but the range of its pairings is actually very wide.

CV Cartoixá Vermell Ancestral - Sparkling White 2017, Partida Creus
This natural sparkling white is, as its initials indicate, made from cartoixa vermell, another name for xarel·lo, a traditional Catalan grape variety brought up to date by Massimo and Antonella. The wine is obtained by refermentation in the bottle (ancestral method) and aged on fine lees. The aromatic and fragrant character of the grape variety blossoms through fine bubbles, notes of ripe fruit and white flowers stand out. On the palate, it is very easy to drink, and fresh.

Mahlon is a dry white wine made entirely from the Piedmontese arneis grape variety, which, in the dialect of its native region, means "little rascal," an allusion to the difficulties it presents to winegrowers. Ruth Lewandowski is convinced that this difficulty is worth it, even if she only releases this cuvée once every two years. Six hours of skin maceration after foot-treading, complete malolactic fermentation, then six months of aging on lees. When it's good, it's very good! Formerly called Contadino, Susucaru red combines the characteristics of its former incarnation: it is the entry-level red from Azienda Frank Cornelissen and the most accessible of its vintages. It is composed of Nerello Mascalese and a few other varieties grown on the estate: Malvasia, Moscadella, Catarratto. The grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed, and undergo approximately sixty days of skin maceration. It is the aromatic expression of Etna, a vintage produced and blended in the traditional way, mixing plots and grape varieties. The result is a wine with a rich and voluptuous nose, elegant and fluid, endowed with structure and a strong personality. Aging potential: ten years. Serving temperature: 14-15 °C. Open twenty minutes before tasting. Pairings: all summer dishes, from marinated red peppers to grilled lamb and antipasti.
