Vincent Granier was originally looking for a new digestif for his Annecy wine bar, La Cave. Over the next five years, he learned the art of liqueur, creating beverages with a burst of freshness and novelty. It was also essential that his liqueurs be organic and artisanal, made from locally sourced ingredients. And of course, local, grown organically or picked on the slopes of the surrounding mountains.

As he progresses in learning the difficult craft of liqueur making, he becomes certain of one thing: the key is the infusion, not the extraction. He strives for finesse, smoothness, and fidelity to the plant. His liqueur must be fresh, flavorful, and light in alcohol. Through experimentation and trial and error, he found his formula.

Brotherly Collaboration

That's when his older brother Stéphane, a former professional basketball player, joined the adventure. Passionate about liqueur, he learned and trained. He aimed to create a family liqueur shop. The two brothers started working together, and in October 2020, the first verbena—Vincent's—was bottled. It was in line with their vision: artisanal, organic, with little extraction, and very aromatic. Others will follow, including another verbena, Stéphane's.

An Art of Infusion

Organic and artisanal are the values on which the company is based. Everything is done by hand by the brothers and their team, from the selection of plants - wild or produced locally using certified organic farming - to the waxing of the bottle necks, including a maceration of the plants in 96% organic wheat alcohol. The macerate is filtered using a plate filter which allows all the aroma to be preserved. After careful blending with a sugar syrup, the liqueurs are bottled.

The Granier secret? Original recipes, a precise and broad aromatic range, fresh flavors that evoke the plant still standing, in its natural environment. It's simply delicious. If, in the past, you generally found liqueurs too sweet, you're about to rediscover the genre. The Granier brothers' nectars convey pure plant life, the taste of the Savoyard mountain slopes.
