THIS WEEK'S THEME: ALSACE

Alsace, located in northeastern France, is a wine-growing region renowned for its unique terroir. Bordered by the Vosges Mountains to the west and the Rhine to the east, it enjoys a semi-continental climate. The varied soils, ranging from Vosges sandstone to limestone and loess, provide ideal conditions for growing vines. Alsatian vineyards cover an area of approximately 15,600 hectares, producing high-quality white wines. The Alsatian terroir is characterized by its geological diversity and sunshine exceptional.

A WINEGROWER IN THE SPOTLIGHT: THÉO EINHART

Théo Einhart, winemaker at Domaine Einhart located in Rosenwiller in the Alsatian vineyards, produces natural wines from Alsatian grape varieties such as Riesling and Gewurztraminer. The long-established estate converted to organic farming in 2008 and obtained AB certification in 2011. The estate's wines, vinified without chemical additives, reflect the mineral richness of the clay-limestone terroir of the Vosges foothills. Théo perpetuates traditional Alsatian methods, such as skin maceration, to produce expressive and complex wines, testifying to the authenticity of the Alsatian terroir. The wines are aged on lees and unfiltered to preserve their aromatic complexity, making Théo Einhart a notable figure in natural viticulture in Alsace. A regular at the YARD, he regularly comes to toast with us and introduce his wines to our customers directly in Paris! We are delighted to conduct a tasting 100% around his wines.
